Studiocleanyourtv: Debloat Android TV and Replace the Ad-Heavy Home Screen via Wi-Fi
Original title: Gathin23/cleanyourtv: Debloat any Android or Google TV over Wi-Fi and get an Apple TV-style home.
Gathin23 has open-sourced cleanyourtv, a tool that uses ADB over Wi-Fi to back up and disable pre-installed apps and ad services on Android/Google TV. It installs a lightweight 280 KB Apple TV-style launcher without requiring root access or uninstalling any apps, and includes a one-line script for full restoration. Within three days of its release, the repository garnered 5,231 stars and supports a testing list covering 54 TV models across 23 brands and 12 languages. Users can delegate the process to AI coding assistants like Claude Code by providing the PROMPT.md file, completing the entire setup in approximately 15 minutes.
The project debloats Android TV pre-installed software and provides an Apple TV-style launcher without rooting or uninstalling apps. The method is reproducible and supports one-click restoration.
